Mrs. Squishy built a machine to fold blankets. She gave it a sturdy handle, two wooden wheels and one very splendid bell. At the first turn, it unfolded every blanket in the house.
She changed the belt. Now it unfolded napkins too. Mr. Squishy wrote down the results while Little Miss Squishy laughed so hard she fell into a pile of fabric.
Mrs. Squishy sat beside the machine and asked a different question. What if its job was not to fold? She threaded scraps of cloth into the wheels and turned the handle again. Out came a bright, uneven banner.
They hung the banner across the Almost Room. Beneath it, Mrs. Squishy wrote the machine a new label: ‘Makes celebrations out of mistakes.’
